Pastors Rock and Sharon Edmunds

Pastors Rock and Sharon Edmunds after serving in a local denominational church were led to leave that fellowship after many years of faithful service. After a brief sojourn, they believed God wanted them to travel approximately 40 miles one way to church in LaGrange, GA. They again were faithful servants of that church, Courts of Praise pastured by Rev. Alex Montgomery, an Oral Roberts University graduate and a former member of its faculty. Seen to be dutiful and called of God, the church leadership named Pastors Rock and Sharon Edmunds deacons and home group leaders. The affiliated local group began meeting in the house of Pastor Sharons mother and father-in-law. It was located in Phenix City. The small home group met every Sunday night.

Pastors Rock and Sharon remained with Courts of Praise for 3 years. Led by the Holy Spirit, they approached Pastor Alex and the church leadership about starting a church in Phenix City, AL. As committed to God as they were, they were more than willing to abide by their decision. If they were refused, they would continue in their capacity at Courts of Praise. However, Pastor Alex was in total agreement and with their blessing Pastors Rock and Sharon embarked in the next phase of their ministry. God truly blessed this new undertaking.

The small group grew in size and shortly we were looking for a meeting place to set up a church building. A store-front building was located and the newly formed church signed a lease. The rented area was converted into a sanctuary, library, office and classrooms. After a couple of years we expanded to the adjacent office area. This afforded us a larger sanctuary and a fellowship hall. The church prospered in Gods abundance.

Again after a couple of years occupying two store-front buildings we began looking for a larger, more permanent location for this non-denominational church. Finding favor with the owners, Pastor Rock negotiated a rent-to-own lease agreement on a large warehouse-like building. The owners willingly made improvements on this building. Many in the church body helped in modifying the empty space into a sanctuary, fellowship hall, library, office, and bathrooms. We were blessed to have members who knew how to build. Our building supervisor, Wayne McAlister was very instrumental in the beautiful outcome of our labors.

Shortly thereafter, Pastor Rock negotiated yet another deal with a bank to purchase this 27,000 sq. ft. building with 5 acres of land. Again the owners asking price was very favorable, thanks to God. The pastors and the church body had confessed that we would be the owners and not the tenants. To God be the glory!

Recently we celebrated the 15th year anniversary of the churchs founding. We have since had a new sanctuary built within the warehouse area. There are also a much larger fellowship hall, more offices, more meeting rooms, and a planned-for coffee shop ready to be used for Gods service. If God tarries, we are looking towards a prosperous and blessed future for this church and members.
